New year, New designs - Web

Well having recently started to design and create a website for our next task at Uni we have reached the stage of the wire frame! Quite boring to look at for the viewer but elegant for the designer as this is the first step. Having not really enjoyed designing websites before I thought i'd hate it, but as I've never had this much freedom in creating a website I have actually been really enjoyed this stage so far.
Having already designed a basic layout, chosen colours and created a logo I decided to find ways to improve on the design I had so far. After trying my logo in loads of different colours, shapes and fonts my logo no longer fit as good as before in the top left corner. This was quite a problem because it's important that the user notices your logo as soon as they enter your website so that when it's next seen by that user it'll be recognised. I decided to turn for some different opinions when a classmate placed it in the centre at the top of the site, this worked extremely well As the background I created to use for the site is symmetrical which makes the logo really fit into the design and starts to look like its actually part of the site. I was inspired to create the background illustration through some logo's and designs used for bands I'm into. Having a very smooth and swirly approach to their designs I decided to take this, similar to the hair in Dan Mumford's Grey Skye piece.
