The last piece of work I created where i worked to a brief was an animation we did for Unity, a Football partnership in Nottingham. Here's a link to my animation Unity animation
I started the assignment by brain storming around what Unity do, also by listening through the dialogue we were given and taking anything from it such as football, Nottingham, youth. Even just things related to what they were saying such as 'robin hood'. Then I took ideologies like this and sketched up as many props to be used for the animation. From this I edited down the dialogue so it would fit into the length of the animated on. I then planned each dialogue into separate texts giving me loads to work with as it all contained so much, which I then created the same print screen on illustrator over and over using different colours, fonts and sizes in text so that I could find my perfect match for the final piece.
I started to create my final piece by getting the simple idea down by editing all of the text to make it in sync with the dialogue using after effects, editing the texts so that they fit into shapes. From doing this I could start to make the objects i'd sketched into illustrator fit around the text and the animation.
I tested the idea through the design process of taking one shape of text and changing the font, colour, background colour, shape, way in which its transitioned and objects involved. This worked well to push me to my final piece because it gave me a chance to see what my animation would look like through different colours and fonts, allowing me to find the best possible way to execute the brief.
I don't really tend to look back over work for inspiration as I feel that progression is key. But if a new brief is very similar to one I have done before I may look back into how I got about doing it, the steps I took and how I got to the final piece.
